What a Depressing Vacation

After nearly a month in the hospital (Jan 30 - Feb 22) they finally released me on Tuesday. Truthfully the transplant surgery didn't go that well and the complications piled up but my recovery since then has been surprisingly good. I still have a very long way to go but every day, I get a little bit better and it feels wonderful to be home.

This last month has been by far the hardest time of my life. Honestly there is so much to say and so little I want to talk about. But what I will do is take the time to thank my friends, family, and the LBP family for all of the support. I want to thank Phyve for breaking me out of my room and Marc for sneaking in the forbidden cheeseburger. As for the amazing staff at Methodist, there were too many wonderful people and too many miracles to name them all, but two nurses took me at a very dark time and made me smile. Thank you Cassandra and Bridgette, I will never be able to portray fully how much you meant to me. Mostly I want to thank my wife- without your strength I would never have made it through this- I love you.

As for Little Brother Project, this has become a little more of a hiatus than expected. With who we are and what we do, a replacement (although Ron was fantastic) of any kind just didnt feel right. Always the optimists, we are looking at this as a good thing. Soon I will be well enough to go back into the studio and we have decided to take this extra time we have to really sink ourselves into recording and creating the best record we possibly can.

The band received some more tough news recently. It looks like Beatty (drums) who is in the National Guard is going to be deployed into duty this summer. Of coarse upon hearing this news everyone assumed the worst but the truth is, at this point, he has no idea where he will be and no idea how long. No matter where he goes he will be missed and supported by his band mates/friends.

On a good note, Marc (guitar) will be getting married to his fiance Lindsey on April 9th. Marc's side of the wedding party is (of coarse) the band and it will be the first time we are all together since before my surgery.

So to quote my three year old son- I "got a new heart and a big boo-boo" but LBP and I will be back soon.

Thanx for checking in,
More than ever - Thanx for your support,
Coy- LBP Bass

Strong Beats Steady Pulse Smooth Rhythm

Hey LBP friends and family-
just a short note to let you all know that Coy recieved a 29 year old heart on Sunday night. He had some complications at first, but things are looking up now. He has been strongly sedated since Sunday, so today was really the first day that he was awake enough to talk. He is in the CVICU at Methodist right now but should be headed to the transplant floor tommorrow. His new heart is working very well on its own, but it has taken a lot of strong will and determination for him to wake up. All who know Coy know that he does everything 200%, and that is how he is handling this. His kidneys are failing right now- a side effect of his having been on the heart lung machine for too long due to complications. They expect his kidney function to return in the next couple of weeks. He has been on dialysis for this, but they are giving him a two day dialysis vacation that started today. The nurses say he is "such a treat", as he is a little wild from all the sedatives. We sincerely appreciate everyones well wishes during a hard time. He is going to come out on the other side of this a much stronger healthier "Cory- 10 feet tall."
If anyone would like to continue to recieve health updates on Coy, email me at NDSomeday@gmail.com and I will add you to my list.
As Coy would say...
Thanx for your support,
Lindsay (Coy's wife)
