The Watermelon Fest was a success
I must say that last night was quite a good gig. We played well but more than that the whole line up was fantastic. I got there a little early, as usual, and got a feel for the event. The normal, neo-hippy lib crowd, was definitely in full force for this 90.1 sponsored event...and they always throw the best parties. Fresh organic watermelon was given to all and there was even a little kiddy section where kids could jump in dirty water with nothing but their skibs on. We played well but what I was more impressed with was the other bands that came on after us. I rarely take the opportunity to stay for the bands that come after us because I live a little ways away but last night I stayed till the end. Plump is a fantastic band and I'll be looking forward to working with them again in the future (www.plumpsounds.com). Dub-Tex as well was a suprising change of flavor and they too are quite the talent. The whole event was memorable and if I didn't have work today I'd be out there for sure to catch the other great bands playing today.Just to fill you in on some of the things that have happened in recent weeks I'll give you all a short run down. As some of you know we were supposed to play with Stockholm Syndrome last week. That didn't work out because they found out last min that their national touring opener could make it out so we were put on the back burner....yeah I know it sucks but what can you do. I purchased a new car, a mini cooper, and it provides about the most fun you can get out of everyday driving (yes it fits my drums....barely). Last night Phive came and chatted with my folks and my father ragged him pretty hard for supposedly "checking out her tits"...he didn't but it was funny none the less. There are talks of taking time to write some music in the next month but I'm sketchy about that for two reasons: 1. Writing time often doesn't require my services because I lend an air of "disturbance" to writing sessions and 2. Getting Phive, Marc, Conrad and Coy together to write is a rare thing indeed...but don't get me wrong I think writing is a welcomed and needed thing.
If you missed out show at LCC feel free to come out this Thursday to catch us in our musical homefront Dean's. We will be sure to provide more jam than anyplace else on a Thursday night...and that is a guarantee ; )
Hope to see you soon,
Beatty
