Back from Austin

Good morning LBP addicts. I just wanted to pass our experiences from Austin on to you surfers at home. We all got to Marc's apartment around 3 on Saturday. Marc was fortunate enough to barrow a trailer for us to use on the trip. After we packed all of our equipment Five decided a little wacky tobacky was needed for the weekend. He disappeared for 45 min. while the rest of the band sat around bull shitting until he came back with nothing. We were on the road around 4:30 and the seating arrangements was something to remember... 8 people in Marc's moderately sized SUV. Marty and Five flipped to see who would ride the bitch middle seat while Coy, "Troy"(this is Conrad's new band name), and myself sat in the furthest back seat cramped more than anyone else. On the way up we listened to a decade of Steely Dan and one of Marc's assorted Phish live albums. We stopped for a wiz break and beer for Tyson in some unknown stretch of dirt before Austin. We got into town around 8ish and were set up for 10. Troy and I went to Starbucks to grab a bite after we were set up/soundchecked. We heard good things from the girl behind counter who said "everyone is going to Tamboleo tonight...my brother, my friend so and so"...so on and so forth. We started playing around 11 to a semi filled Tamboleo. By the end of the first set we had filled in the house pretty well. After our union authorized 10 minute break we went up for another round of happening funk jam, but to our surprise the PA wasn't hip to the groove. The PA went out midway through the second set. We tried to work through it but it was decided that rather than play and sound shitty we should cut it short for the evening. We packed in up and headed to our hotel for the afterparty. Our after party consisted of the band, Marc's girlfriend, and Tyson telling us about a psychedelic mushroom adventure that he happened to see at a Phish concert. And when the shotgunning of beers was over we all headed to bed for 2 hours of sleep. Marty had to be in Houston for 1 so we headed out at around 8. The travel music for the ride home was more Phish, snips of Harry Connick Christmas and one track of Pat Metheny's Bright Size Life. That's about it folks. Our next scheduled show is at Dean's for NYE, but there is always the possibility of something else happening check the site often.
